I'm passionate about the expressiveness of music and the stories that I can convey with my programmes.

Jose Huamani stands among the first Peruvian viola da gamba players of his generation. He trained at Lyon's National Conservatory under Myriam Rignol and pursued private studies with Teodoro Bau through the IBERMUSICA scholarship — two formative influences whose combined legacy shapes his distinctive musical voice. He is currently completing a master's degree with Kaori Uemura at the Royal Conservatory of Brussels.

Drawing from both the Bau and Rignol traditions, Huamani brings a rich and versatile sensibility to early music performance. Deeply committed to expanding the field's horizons, he has founded ensembles on both sides of his journey — Transatlantique in Lyon and Auroras Mestizas in Brussels — dedicated to bringing Latin American early music into the broader early music conversation.

His work has taken him to festivals across Europe, and he is currently developing a solo program in collaboration with the Abbey of Noirlac and Villefavard Farm in France.
